Someone is chatting to me about putting a redtop engine with a GSi 1.6 gearbox or 1.8 diesel gearbox in he's car

He wants a lower gear ratio for a quicker 0-60 time or something.

Would it work?

Not sure a GSI box will fit as its for a small block?

F16CR is meant to be best for acceleration.

pretty pointless though unless it's a CR box because the f20 has nearly the same ratio's

Diesel gearbox would be longer, surely, and would give him slower acceleration and higher top speed. I think.

and it will probably do about 65 mph topend

tell him to put some throttle bodys on it if he wants to lower the 0-60

or just use an f20 and use a close ratio final drive gear?

This can be done, think you need to have a fly wheel machined or something for it to work.
