the VAG units are very poor and the 170 is worse than the 140
the 2.0 BMW just doesn't feel that quick although its far quicker than the 170 VAG unit

I much prefer the delivery to my 2.0 na petrol which although has a larger rev range, does nothing before 4k so the power band isn't that much different to the diesel.

I've got the 2.0 tdi 140 in the leon as you're prob aware and i've got nothing at all bad to say about it. everyone thats driven it says its a lot more smoother and power band is more progressive than the 1.9PD's.
1.9pd's seem to hit the power with a big bang where as the 2.0 gradually builds upto it.
just my input

Just back in from driving one, I think deano has just been used to driving a petrol, you need to drive it totally differently.
I'm the opposite, i'm that used to driving a diesel I hate the way the clio drives.

Last March I test drove a 320d M Sport (183bhp) and it felt as quick as the Mk V Golf GTI (197bhp) I had at the time...

Driven my dads Golf GT TDI 115bhp and I agree, you do need to drive it differently.
Feels alot different to the petrol cars I've driven.

the 170 VAG td engine is a fantastic engine! try driving one that makes 200bhp and 300 ft/lb. power is smooth and progressive.

It'll only be something cheap for a couple of months, possibly a diesel vaux, after that it very possibly will be back to vag.

Yes, yes it does
My petrol one is parked next to a red diesle one as well today LD Although mine is better as it has tints all round and Mk V front and rear wipers, and Beetle Sport door pins
