i was pretty much set on the sony alpha a200 but people keep saying that it wont be as good as canon's or nikon's

so the choice is now between the

sony alpha a200 and the canon eos 1000d

both similar cameras after a quick look but the sony has a few better features imo like image stabalisation built into the camera and not the lense.
but the canon has a live view which the sony doesnt.

havent really read much on the canon yet but so far they both look similar just sony havent made 'much' of a name in the dslr market yet.

I was just looking on ebay at cameras for somebody and came across http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CANON-REBEL-XT-EOS-350D-CAMERA-LENS-4GB-6-BONUS-SLV_W0QQitemZ110280234112QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110280234112&_trkparms=72%3A985%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1308&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Thats a brilliant deal for somebody who doesn't want to pay much.

I would opt for a 400D over the 1000D. Similar price and more functions on the 400D
