Posting something of similar subject because I've been let down by my usual garage and need to know exactly that it is my clutch that needs doing.

Over the past few days, getting the car into gear was getting harder and harder, especially when warm. This was all gears, not just reverse.

So when I was on the way back from Uni heading to the garage so they could take a look at it, it got even worse. Then, I couldn't get it into any gear at all, with the engine running. No matter how much I pushed (and I didn't want to force it) it wouldn't get in gear.

The AA man adjusted the clutch cable (I had no idea it was so easy ) and it's better, however he said it won't last long, and I can tell it has deteriorated since.

So yeah, is this likely to be the clutch which has gone? Or something else like the gear selector or what ever it is called?!

Any help massively appreciated

deano mate i would say your clutch is fecked. my old sport went through 3 clutch cables in 3 months due to the clutch being fucked. one time i broke down on the forth road bridge because i couldnt get it into gear with the symptoms you have, i had to turn my car off then put it in gear then start the car to get moving. i got charged £250 fitted at a private garage.

It's all booked in and not in my possession anymore. £280 inc VAT at a Bosch Service Centre so not too bad. They said it sounded like the clutch. AA man said it was the clutch. So having the clutch done

Indeed - especially as where I normally take the car said he'll be in tomorrow and will have it done by midday. I fear he'd have been £80, if not more, cheaper.
