Currently got a 360, it works fine and I love playing COD4 etc on it, graphics are brill too. Only thing I dislike about it is that with it being microsoft I have paid for the console and its accessories which is fine, but now I have to pay to use it online and I have to pay for extra maps and pay for certain things using these points things, AFAIK this is not the case on PS3? If I am wrong then fair enough, but is it worth trading in / upgrading to PS3, maybe after christmas when prices start dropping in the sales etc? OR should I just keep it for eventually cheaper games and obvsiouly no spending out on a new console...
edit - would prefer not to have fanboi responses Robbo

I'm much happier with my PS3. Since I got it last year my Xbox has been used zero times. For the same reasons as you really. I hated paying for shit that should blatantly be free.

You can get xbox live membership for £24 for 12 months on some websites. Well worth £2 a month imo.
2 guys at work have a 360, wii and PS3. They both play their 360s the most.

I also have all 3.
The PS3 controller is so much better for prolonged use too. It doesn't weigh a ton, and recharges through the PS3, no batteries.
Plus Blu-Ray's are a massive bonus for me.

You see, I prefer the 360 controller to the PS3 ones, but I think I could get used to them. Batteries dont bother me because my controllers also charge via usb ports on 360, ill not even be considering it till after chrimbo anyway what with buying a new laptop earlier

I play my 360 most, used to love my PS2 controlers but my PS3 ones are just to light and feel cheap and nasty.

had a 360 since launch see no reason to buy a ps3 at the min, considering its so much more expensive, and they basically play exactly the same games, very few console exclusives now apart from the odd rpg on 360 which suits me fine.

Is there as much downloadable content for the PS3?
On the 360 game demos and videos are free, as are game updates. Extra game content, films and music you pay for. Whats free on the PS3?

I used to have an Xbox, I'm getting a Ps3 in a couple of days. When I worked out how much I spent to get my Xbox up to what I get from the PS3 its not much different (Xbox Live, rechargeable batteries, wireless etc). This was a bit ago now though, the Xbox's are alot cheaper now.

I've downloaded 3 demos so far. All free. You can download full games too, which you have to pay for.

ps3 is a cracking console but 360 is better due to xbox live imo
live gives games so much more longevity and the banter is classic
psonline is shit at the moment. but im sure if its given another year or two it will be equally as good if not better than live

PSonline has already come on leaps and bounds. Isn't much it doesn't do now. XBL still has the edge, but give it another 1 or 2 updates and it'll be close.

I only have a PS3 at the moment and regret selling my 360 - 360 has a much better catalogue of games and Microsoft have the $$$ to keep buying Sony exclusives so PS is losing it's identity imo. Ps3 has a rubbish line up of games, online sucks..
Loved my 360 but I must admit I did fall into the 'ps3 is more powerful and better' bandwagon after my 360 RROD, but even my ps3 has broken (the blueray laser went, and had to get replaced)
so both consoles are just as unreliable as eachother in my case anyway.
Ps3 is possibly the most boring shitty thing I've played on in awhile and its driven me to PC gaming now, and im much happier

Well we ps3 owners are still waiting for Sony's answer to XBL and from what I have seen it looks pretty cool, seems to be taking a damn long to be finish and fyi its called "HOME"
I think both consoles are great, I would just get what your friends have so you can play online with them.
There is some free content on ps3 play station store, it's mainly demos, film and game trailers, theme pack, addons etc.
I've downloaded around 20 demo all free and are very quick to dl.
