Then you're over the limit already. Who actually believes that a window lets in 100% of the light anyway, with nearly all windows now having a 5-10% tint on them as it is.
Your choice though, doesn't bother me. Just felt I had to point that out.

from VOSA site
Stopping drivers
Both the police and VOSA are now stopping
vehicles with tinted windows and checking the
Visual Light Transmission (VLT) through
windscreens and side windows. If the light
getting through is less than is legally required,
the driver may be prohibited from using the
vehicle until the tint is removed. Motorists who
donft rectify the problem may be prosecuted.
The legal limits for window tinting are a
minimum of:
70 per cent VLT for side windows
75 per cent VLT for windscreens on
vehicles first used after April 1985 and
70 per cent VLT for those first used prior
to that date.

Which is nigh on impossible. Standard windows are tinted about 10% as mentioned and you can't get a 15% tint film. Even light smoke tints are about 60%.

Cant you just go to a tinter's and say 'I want some tints which let in 75%'?

No. Because i'm pretty confident you can't get them. As I said, even light smoke tints block out 75% of light once fitted. mk4_boy is mistaken, as theres no way his windows were letting in 83% of light with a light smoke tint.
