It still spins.. pc still makes a noise when I connect it..
and says its a freecom hdd
but nothing comes up?

yeah tried it in another pc..
Its makes the noise.. and states that the hard drive is connected etc..
I have like 400gb worth of data so I don't wana format it

Sounds like it, i have a freecom, and mine done the same although it wasnt detected in any way, made a clicking noise to.
I phoned them up and tbh the customer service was really good, i got a bit arsey and managed to get a larger one returned luckily i didnt have the data you have one yours tho.

Why did you format it?
Should have went into Disk Management and tried giving it a different drive letter 1st.
