leather in my Punto as a slight crack in it, its in an inconspicuous place so im not that fussed, I want to keep the rest of it in tip top nick cause tbh I havent really ever cleaned the seats propper

Yes it probably is best to keep fire away from the car if you want the seats to look proper

your leather is already cracking on a 2 year old car?? 
The leather in my 10 year old Omega has no cracks & is still nice and soft, and thats after 180k miles of abuse...

I dont think its the best quality leather in the world, not as good as the old vauxhalls

I used Autoglym Leather Car Cream & Leather Cleaner on my cream leathers.
Good stuff, especially since my fronts arent exactly minted.

Zaino, Gliptone or Chemical Guys leather stuff.
I tend to use Gliptone in general.
A weak mix of apc scrubbed into the seats with something like a nail brush will clean them up, but then it's a good idea to condition them afterwards too

keeping it clean is more important than the conditioner, conditioner can make things worse, especially as nearly all car leather is sealed and the conditioners just sit on top and rub off on your clothes.
your best off getting something from a company that cater for homes, cars, clothes, bags everything really...they have years of experience with leather.
Alot of these so-called detailing products have appeared in last few years to get in on the profits from the detailing scene.

"Most leather sold in shops and in all car interiors has a pigmented finish on it. What this means is that the leather is painted and then sealed with a lacquer. It is impossible to feed the leather because you cannot breach the surface and so the oils and waxes can't soak in. In these cases it is not the leather that is drying out and cracking but the pigment on the surface.
So it is pointless using a leather conditioner on such leathers, you need a product that protects the finish. The leather protection cream adds a protective layer to the leather that will protect the finish from all wear, tear and heat."
i spent alot of time contacting companies about leather and learning about it
you just want to keep it clean and protect it, you can't undo age
