My headunit seems to have a mind of its own
Where the date is located in the pic below (on the dash) in the console turns on/ off when the headunit is active or not.
ie:
When the H.unit is on, the date simply dissapears.
But,
When the H.unit is off... It illuminates again. Strange.
****************
Note - NOT MY CAR
****************
---
2nd problem is that,
My H.unit seem to have a wiring fault somewhere + I havnt got the foggiest of ideas where to start... SOMETIMES (like 1-10) it plays music for a second. Then othertimes not a sausage.
It sends out like a interfeering signal at first- for half a second + shuts off/ wont play music atall. *But yet the screen says it should be + counts the seconds in every track* (As per normal)
My H.unit is a Pioneer DEH4800MP so not -that- old but still... Has packed up on me
Thinking about rewiring the whole thing this weekend but that will just annoy me but atleast it will hopefully solve the mystery
Any suggestions about the whole siutation or am i just digging a hole to put my hard earnt money into?
New headunit?
Live wire effecting something/ somewhere?
Loose ground?
Need a new ISO (Wires coming out of the H.unit?
New Car?
Any help is better then no help.
Thanks,
Joe

1st problem - Thats standard with every aftermarket headunit, although it can be wired so it stays on. Wont go into that though as you said your no good with wires
2nd problem - sounds like the headunit is cutting out when its overloaded. ie.... turned up and the amp inside cant take it. Thermal protection or something iirc
I'll try find out some more now

amps tend to trip when overloaded or they "bleed" to death... when used at high volumes for long time maxing itself out it. the volume will keep going lower until nothing comes out at all.

1. there is a wire believe its brown and white (dont quote me on that) if you cut it the date should appear again.
2. new headunit
