Has anybody ever had problems with the temp guage on them, as my brothers is on the red all the time recently but the car seem to be ok

yeh mines does the same on my 1.6 sport. doesn't overheat or anything just temp guage don't work for some reason.

Nope but the radiators hot, does the water go from the radiator through the theremostat and then into the engine or the other way round? as that could be the cause for the temp of it.

mines not been working for years had no problems with overheating or things getting hot.
