Say if the headgasket had gone and had got a gap between a chamber and an oil well/hole what kind of bad running symtoms would i expect to have?

Could possibly run on 3 cylinders as oil would be getting into the chamber and spoiling the mix.
Are you getting any blue smoke?
Did a compression test, that will tell you if any cylinders are down and where the gasket failure is.

White smoke not blue
Mayo like oil
Compression test
Using water but no leaks
Heaters blowing cold
Temp run hot

can't oil get into the bores then?

Got white smoke under hard throttle, using alot of oil aswell. Big power loss sometimes below about 3k but pulls hard again after that.
