At the front of the rear axle on the pass side you'll find the adjuster.
You'll need lots of WD40 and good molegrips. It will be a pain.

you can also remove the rear drums, and adjust them using the adjuster in the inside of the drum, adjust 5 clicks at a time, plus you can clean the rear brakes and lubricate the moving parts

It's a right pain and there will prob be lots of swearing but it's a straight forward job.
As said, WD40 and good molegrips!

do you leave the handbrake off when you adjust it? also which way do you turn the adjuster?

Off and Anti Clockwise. You can't turn the threaded bolt, you need to turn the holder.
If you've got a mate round he can pull up on the handbrake when you tell him to. Try and get a few turns 1st then ask him to lift the handbrake. If you had 5 clicks and you've got 4 now, well you know your going the correct way. I'm guessing you'll be able to work it out if you get 6 clicks from 5
