You will need HDMi cable for 1080p, AFAIK the 720p cable comes with it, mine did anyway

depends which xbox you have and how your connecting
xbox premium - come with componant cable which can do 1080p but most tvs will not accept 1080p through this connection, does come with a hdmi slot, hdmi cables can be bought for around £5 and will do 1080p if your tv is capable of this.
xbox elite comes with component and hdmi cable
xbox arcade only comes with av cable.

it will only do 1080i so the cable that comes with it (premium/elite) will be fine no need to buy anything else.

Set it to 720p though, forget about the 1080i.

The series 4 only does 720p.
Get a decent HDMI cable that states HDMI 1.3 and you will notice a good difference.
Cheapo cables are shit. Think of cables as tyres, you need good ones to get the best out of your car.
So in hindsight, get a good HDMI cable

That's complete bull, a £1 cable will be exactly the same as an expensive one unless it's over big distances.

You dont NEED one. But to view it in High Definition, and not standard definition, you do.

You need to find out what kind of xbox you have.
If it has hdmi get the cheapest one, for instance

no you dont stop giving him false information.
the included cable that comes with the premium will enable him to get the highest resolution that his tv is capable of.
hdmi may give a better picture, i myself noticed no difference going from component to hdmi.
And a £5 cable will give exactly the same picture as a £80 cable, dont buy into the hype.

Monster - do you want 1080p / have a TV capable of displaying 1080p?
If yes, you want a HDMi cable (you dont NEED one) as only through that can you get 1080p
If no, you need a cable thats got 5 different coloured jacks on the end of it, called component, that will do you in normal pic quality up to 720p
As John said, if you want a HDMi cable, a cheapo ebay one will do fine for £5

no the tv he is getting has a max of 720p (well it will accept 1080i but its scaled).
so the cable that comes with the 360 will allow you to get the best picture possible from the tv you have got and yes it will be HD.
end of story no need to buy another cable no point.
to save you the trouble of a new thread when you get the tv to make it HD you need to set the switch on the xbox cable to "hd-tv" and change the settings in the video settings on the 360 to "720p" for the best pic possible for your equipment.

Close thread, before someone else inputs something completely against the correct answer, as happens on here
