Hi
Recently had the head off of my XE due to timing slipping and the top end of the engine shitting itself.
When I put it back together the EML light was on constantly, but it still drove albeit with a slight to moderate misfire. I realised that the knock sensor plug wasn't in correctly ( ) so sorted that and the EML went off.
But now when the car's heated up or on the motorway driving the light comes on for a few seconds then goes out. It does this constantly and when I go to accelerate it misfires and loses revs.
My first port of call would be the knock sensor - change for another one. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has any suggestions as well though?

ive recently had the samish promlem, i changed my cps and cts sensor and they worked a treat!

coolant temp sensor! i had exaxct same problem on my xe when i had it, also check the wiring to the temp sensor

yer lol mine split aswell ive just got a new connector from work to day to recrimp a new one!£1 for the connector, terminals and waterproof grommets! bargain!

Excellent lads, I'll give that a go. Was thinking it might be something to do with the CTS due to it only doing it when hot.
Take it the CTS the plug on the thermostat beside the little blue plug that just clips on?

yes mate unclip the connector and check the wiring into the connector for open or split wires! i think i payed £8 for a gen one new and you could really tell the differnce between the 2! just make sure thou as soon as you have pulled it out be ready to wack the other one straight in as it will leak abit of water and also make sure its not hot!

The sensor on the thermostat? Take it you mean unscrew it to replace it?
Or is it the plug that goes onto it that might be goosed?

the sensor, unscrew it and replace that sensor and check the connetor for the sensor!
