Does anybody know where this gets its signal from to display the temp. mine is currently just sitting blank

Behind the front bumper mate. Air temp sensor.

there is an unused plug behind my bumber. does an air temp sensor plug into that. dont even know where the sensor is located.

It could be that, it could be anything to be honest. Sensor is located between the bumper & infront of the raditor.
