Wondered about that but I don't think so...(will keep an eye tho)
A friend mentioned if the cat had died...but would this give bad economy?

Hmmm...
How would I go about checking for a leak? Like if it was high in the tank?

Go around the car with a lighter.
Na, just park on a bit of clean ground with the engine running, follow the fuel lines form what you can see of the tank forward.
But on the other hand it could be a problem with a fucked sensor or the like.

Surely I'd need to have a full tank to check if there was a leak on up the tank tho?
I'd thought of sensors but thought they would have brought a light on on the dash...maybe not though?

Fucked sensor (AFM, Lambda or CTS) would cause bad fuel consumtion.
1.2 16v's are knwn for eating hem as well

Would blown sensors not show up a light on the dash though?

1.2's are known for bad fuel consumption.
i ahve got a 58 plait mazda 3 atm and that thing just does over 200 miles to a tank driving it sensabley(sp) my old 14xe would do that on about £20
