My auntie used to keep them, she still has some. A lot of them die from jumping out, she lost loads that way.

A well set up pond is easy to maintain, however filters need regular cleaning. Something like a Nexus Eazy 200 though provides an all in one solution and is very easy to clean, however you are looking at around £900 for the filter.

If a lot of them jump out it could well be due to poor water quality, tell your anty to check her water parameters!!

She's been keeping them for years now, 20-30 years. I would say she has lost 10-15 over that period from jumping out, it's just something they do.
