You got a link to that info? As it hasnt worked out for me that way!

I did college full time for a year - Level 1 course.

Then started my apprentiship and started my level 3 college course and level 2 inhouse training. Now I have just started my level 3 inhouse training, all very complicated! lol

Apprentices
From pay reference periods starting on or after 1 October 2006 the special rules for apprentices will be extended to apprentices aged over 25. This will mean that:

Apprentices under age 19 will not qualify for the national minimum wage
Apprentices over age 19 and in the first 12 months of their apprenticeship will not qualify for the national minimum wage.

My boss says apprentices are different?
Slight variations to the rules apply if you are an apprentice. Not only are you exempt if under 18, if you are between the ages of 18 to 26 you are exempt during the first 12 months of your apprenticeship.

If you are over 17, then after a full year’s apprenticeship you will receive the National Minimum Wage, according to the age brackets listed above.

Ive looked into this before, Im 26 & doing an apprenticeship, had to take the shit wage for first 2yrs. Moved up a bit now though, & once im qualified i'll be on £300 a day so its deffo worth it.

School qualifications mean shit, you need some form of further education to get a decent job!!

Altho im now on 4day week due to the current climate but only for this month.

Me and the GF were looking into it and minimum wage applies if you start your apprenticeship @ 19 and are still doing it after the 1st year. It was something like that

Yeah - 16 and 17 Doing an apprenticeship the minimum wage doesn't apply.

If you're 19 or over and in your first year the minimum wage doesn't apply.

19 and above in your second year or further you're entitled to the minimum wage for that age which is £4.77 P/H - Still not great but better imo!

Looked it all up last night
