i paid £4.00 off my credit card (that was all that was on it) and the payment due date was the 10th april. confirmation of this is here:

25 Mar 2009 24 Mar 2009 PAYMENT FASTER PAYMENT RECEIVE THANK YOU £4.00

i also have another one here:

1 Apr 2009 31 Mar 2009 PAYMENT FASTER PAYMENT RECEIVE THANK YOU £4.00 -

not sure if it's the same one but theres 2 paying in confirmations of £4.00

now, the due date as said was 10th april. but the screen hasn't changed and still told me the payment i needed to make was £4.00?

i've just paid £20.88 into the account as that was what the next bill would be.

is it taking so long to clear the £4.00 payment because of the bank holiday?

all it said was that if i pay early then my account just ends up in credit, which will then be taken off next months bill.

How's this work then..

I just applied for a credit card online for emergencies and the like.

Do you have to pay your whole balance off by the end of each month? or is it before a month after each transaction?

You don't have to pay off the full balance no. There will be a minimum payment that you have to pay, but you're better to pay off as much as you possibly can. If you go about paying the minimum payment each month from a big balance, you'll end up in debt before you know it.

Right so if you pay the minimum payment then anything left to pay will get interest added onto it after your due date?

Basically aye. That's why people get cards that have 10 months interest free or whatever. When it comes upto the 10 months, they get another card with a different company and transfer the balance so they get another deal.

Just set up a direct debit to pay it in full every month then you don't have to worry.

As John said can set up DD instructions to pay off every month, thats what my student CC is. Although I have to pay every 6 weeks instead of 4, and after a certain cut off every period that goes on to the next statement No interest charged as yet so working fine
