I sold this item: Link

I never fitted it therefore didn't know its working order as expected but they've filed a dispute straight away without even emailing me saying its not as described. If I'd put in full working order and that I accepted returns then fair enough but I haven't put anything like that. Surely its up to the buyers discression to contact the seller checking this as I havent put anything of its working order to cover myself incase it was faulty.

So do I have a case or not?

TBH as your selling a dump valve, If I bought it, i'd want a valve that worked. As you haven't actually said "untested so unsure if it'll work" the buyer can expect to receive an item fit for purpose IMO .

Bit shit that they didn't contact you first though!

I know I should've advertised it as never tested but I still don't feel they have a valid case. I have offered half the money back as a good will geasture but they just escalated the claim.

Dont think you have a case there mate Paypal will nearly alway side with the buyer as I found out when a dispute was opened against me not long ago.

Probably best off just giving them their money back now instead of going through the whole dispute process They will probably end up getting it back anyway you see.

Hmm cheers Shaun. I'm just annoyed that I've tried to reason with them and help my end and they just don't give two shits. Oh well.

I wouldn't want half my money back for something that doesn't work, or something that I wasn't aware had a risk of not working. I think it's you in the wrong mate, not the buyer.

Give them a refund, get the valve back then relist it again and add that its un tested.

Did they say it doesnt work or just it isnt as described? Is it fitted correctly?

He might have changed his mind and just saying it does not work as an excuse?

As you have said that YOU have not used it you cant say either way if it was working..

There's nothing on the advert that suggests it doesn't work.

If I, and I assume just about everybody else, bought that i'd expect it to work.

If it was sold as untested or mentioned anything about it not working thats a different matter but it doesn't.
