It's awful but I find myself getting more excited about those MG42's gunning down the Americans

I just think there's more historical relevance in those first scenes than the rest of the film.
And Band of Brothers is more down to earth, I like the final few episodes as its all based in this area, can almost imagine the Allied troops marching through the forests nearby.

Just they remember we fought for 2 years without their help and only joined the war once Russia got their act together.
agreed
on d-day more brits and canadians stormed those beaches than americans

and the reason that Omaha beach landing was worse than the rest in terms of loss of life etc. Was purely the Americans fault and their retarded navy and tank divisions

Went to Normandy in October last year to go round the museums and cemetries to learn some more about the whole thing. Was amazing, really hits home walking around the cemetries just how many people died, most of which were probably younger than me.
Cant even begin to imagine what they must have been thinking getting off of those boats. Massive respect for those men.

They decided that our flail tanks were eccentric British crap, had they had them on Omaha it would have saved thousands of lives as the tanks cut through the barbed wire.

12 miles out to sea
We (the Brits) moved a lot lot closer which enabled the DD tanks to land at our landing beaches and avoid the rough seas.
