It sometimes works, depending on where on the horn and how hard i press, any idea how to fix this ? would i fail my MOT because of it ?

I guess u can just pull it off and check connections or something ? or does the whole wheel have to come off ?

yep just pull centre cap of the steering wheel & check the connections

assuming you aint got an airbag!!
