Took my D60 to Stapeley Water Gardens at the weekend to try it out for the first time. I took 74 pics of various things and i'd say there are about 4 that were ok. all the rest were complete garbage! i'm just getting to grips with CS3 also so i'm not even sure if i can make the half decent ones any better.

i've got a few books that i'm reading at the minute that i can hopefully pick up some good tips from but i'm suffering from a major lack of confidence at the minute! did anyone else feel like this at first or am i just shit?

My first reaction is tripod and remote shutter. Did you use either?

These are actually quite good. Most are a little under exposed though.

The Dragon shot is really nice and sharp and would benefit from a tighter crop.

Dont worry Carl, most peoples first shots are terrible (you should have seen mine!) but you will get there in the end. I was helped along by the fact i had a good friend who is ace at photography and the fact im a graphic designer which means i know how to set a shot out and ive had years of experience in photoshop.

Keep at it and you will get there, look at other photographers work and see if you can work out how they got that shot you like.

Flickr is good to look at, if you find a pic you like you can look at the photo properties and see what settings they used.

That's a better first attempt than I had!

You will find that ALOT of the stunning pictures you see have been processed in Photoshop. You need to learn Photoshop aswell as how to take photos it seems these days
