Going to paint the block on my LET, i've planned to use hammerite. Just wondered if anyones used this before and if anyones got some pics of freshly painted blocks that'd be chuffin' lovely?

My XE block was black, Took that off now with the steam cleaner and solvents after stripping the block. Once built up it will be painted in silver. I find a good high temp paint keeps it's colour better than a standard paint.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Yea it will definately be silver, already bought it. I'm concerned because the engines been painted green by ctm performance when it was rebuilt (greens there trademark), then it was painted black poorly and is flaking back to the green so once i've stripped of the black coat i don't want my silver to do the same?

Benkid, get to B&Q and buy some Nitromors

That will strip all the paint off the engine, then powerwash it and degrease it with thinners or white spirits.
Then paint it whatever colour you like and it will be sound

Cool cool. What needs to be masked on the block. Will there be anywhere other than where the exhaust manifold goes?

the exhaust manifold doesn't go to the block
you can paint it all as long as you don't paint anywhere internal or where hoses go on.
