Has anyone on here ever used any illegal substances and then gone for a medical as part of your employment?
Any stories, how long things stay in your body etc?

What substance is it? Weed is 30 days, Coke is like 24-48hrs, etc.

Oh and if it's weed, I've got mates who've got away with the "I was at a party and other people were smoking it in the same room" excuse. I think it's other stuff they're more concerned about anyway.

Yes, I had the same issue when i went for this job.
Urine test does not test for THC content 
If your in a panic, and need a quick de-tox, the best advice is, no more weed, and drink plenty of cranberry juice (i spend ages researching this).
Weed isn't "30 days", it varies from person to person, and the amount they smoke.
i'f you've had a spliff or two, chances are it'll be out your system within a week. If your a regular user, then it can take 3-6 weeks to come out of your system totally. There are things you can do to aid it out of your system though.
But for a plain medical, unless a drugs test has been stated, you should be ok.
I had the major panics too when I found out i was gonna start in 3 weeks, after yeaaaars of smoking it

I was at T in the Park 2yrs ago & had a medical with Abermed the following Monday.
I didnt take anything myself but some of the tents were reeking of weed, folk next to us rolling joints etc, had to keep moving about to get away from it I was shitting myself
Then when I went for the medical one of the bars didnt come right up, but she dipped it again & it did - phew
Swetting bucket loads throughout!!

Passive smoking won't effect your bloodstream as you think.
You could be in a basement full of stoners, with the door shut, and it still wouldn't really show in your THC content.
Humans have THC in the bloodstream anyway. smoking a joint massivly ups it, but passive smoking doesn't. Proved.
Hence why I don't really believe the hype about passive smoking in pubs....... Sure it makes you cough, but how many of us got cained by wood fires as kids, and we haven't got cancer of the lungs...

If you're worried, get yourself along to the Torry Bike shop. They sell urine masking drinks that helped my mate pass a medical before he went offshore.
