Hard Drive is starting to fail

Can i just replace the drive with a standard IDE/SATA (depending what's in the box)?

If not, can i just buy a second hand sky plus box and use it will my Sky Viewing Card?

No point me getting new equipment as i'm moving in December when my new place is built.
