I've just sold a phone for £175.

Just checked my account and they want £17.49 that's before paypal take a massive chunk.

That's the last time I use ebay to sell anything then.

That's daylight robbery.

I don't even want to look at paypal charges but that'll be at least 15% of my sale for the privilege of hosting it on their well known site, bit of a con.

Why do companies, especially in these times, not realise that they can be too greedy and push customers away, making less money than they would if they took slightly less.

How do people that stupid get high up the ladder high paying jobs

do people not look into what ebay will charge

any auction house would charge a similar percentage.
seems like people just use ebay so they can have a whinge about it.

I didn't look into it tbh, I've not cared until now.

I didn't go on with the intention of having a whinge, I'll not use it again though unless I have to for some reason but will now be fully aware of the fees.

E71 munchie.

If I don't find something satisfactory I'll just buy another E71

How about a laptop?

Means you can keep the E71.

I stopped selling larger items on ebay a few years ago. All my bike gear, phones, car bits and bobs go on the forums. Zero commission and as yet no hassle.

£6.32 paypal took, if I knew that before hand I probably wouldn't have sold the phone tbh, that's about 14% of the overall sale.

Forums for me from now on I think

I just bought a phone, paid via bank transfer, was instant across different banks.

If they can get that system working across all banks that can be an end to paypal.

The vast majority of banks now have the FPS (Faster Payment Service) and 9/10 it will be in within the hour, max 2hrs.

Ebay will find some way to not allow this though, so you HAVE to use Paypal - 100% this will happen in the next 6 months.

I contacted this guy to do a deal outside ebay.

He gets the same, if not a little more money and I get the phone cheaper than he had it on ebay for.

Thats what they get for being complete cunts.

Aye, they'll get smart to this soon enough and make you pay upfront to list an advert if it sells or not, and then just offer you the relist for free - so no chance of cancelling the auction once its up and getting your money back.
