So i just bought some 50mm springs for my gmax shocks (60mm at the moment) but i dont have a clue how to change them. Do i need spring compressors etc?
Are there any guides anywhere, or can anyone give me an idea of what to do

Use spring clamps/compressors otherwise a fairly dangerous job, don't listen to idiots who say it's fine either(about 20-30 for a set). basically tighten them so the spring is compressed. Then remove the top nut from the shocks, pull the spring off, put the other one (Compress it first ), put the top nut back on mate
the rears, you just change over anyway!

If ya don't use comprssors, ya likely to have the spring smash you in the face or put a nasty dent in ya bonnet or worse.

Haha ok then!
Got a mate who kindly said he would do it for £30, worth it? Seeing as i dont have a jack that fits under my car, no axel stands or compressors!!

Can't be a great mate, it's not a difficult job to do buddy, the rears are simple as, Jack it up, support her on axle stands, take the wheel off, loosen the nut, then get a flathead screwdriver underneath and force it out, then put the new ones in place and reverse procedure, the fronts, you just need the clamps because they're compressed and dangerous.
Borrow someone elses jack and stuff, £30 is not worth it, it's a 20 minute job on the rears, probably 30 on the front.

That looks fine to me, it's just a set of clamps to lock the springs down so they don't release all the pressure and bounce into your face or damage some part of the car etc because the tension in them springs are pretty harsh.
Before you buy some though, ask your mates to borrow some axle stands and jacks, or see if they have any clamps, if you have any mates that work in a garage, they shouldn't have a problem with lending them to ya

I got some that are pretty much like those eBay ones from Screwfix Direct, see if they have a shop near you as they're about the same price so it'll save you postage.
