I once had to make a tool for a Helicopter ejector seat moulding (cover over the blast unit). I never thought Helicopters would have ejector seats

There is an initial explosive device which fires the rotors off; then a seocnd or so later the seat ejector goes off - wouldn't trust it though

I'd love one in a convertible.

Imaging nearly being involved in a pile-up on the motorway and then woosh! You've got a birds eye view of a crash with your car in it. It would be like an outer-body experience

They have explosive charges in the main rotor blade bolts that blow them off before the seat is ejected. Scary!

They don't ditch the rotors at all.
You have to sit in the cockpit and look up and get the timing spot on.

That sounds more like it......government cut backs etc.


Imagine that....."right lads...we can afford the ejector seats, but not to blow the rotors off.......its all about timing. We'll do some live practice whilst on the ground....who wants to go first"

i really didnt think about planes etc and thought you meant ejector seats for cars until i clicked the link
