PCMCIA slot on side of tv? why what when???
and also a usb (service slot) could it be used to watch films on a usb memory?

pcmia slot is usually for cards so you can watch channels like setanta which might require them

Well it was a slot for the engineers to change firmware etc sorry out errors
But now I can plug my 500gb external or a memory stick in and play music, view photos, play more or less any video files even blue ray ones

Interesting, i've not tried plugging my external HD into my TV.. I use it on the Xbox all the time would save starting that up to watch vids.

I haven't looked properly at it, but does it decode all formats or something? Pretty strange.

It won't decode all formats, especially 'blue ray'.
Looks like it plays xvid and mkv though, mkv being a container for HD so it'll probably play some HD stuff.
