U need a special tool or brut force but if u use force u can damage the collapaseable part of the rack mate

load of shite! u will not damage anything!!

just undo the nut and leave it on the end thread, otherwise your liable to get a steering wheel in the face!, then just get somebody to pull the steering wheel why you gently tap the column with a hammer & block. the block(of wood) prevents any damage occuring on the splines
