You may get away with it if you have decent strut braces but i wouldnt risk it tbh.

Oh right, I didn't realise I needed strut braces or my car would rip itself apart. I'll get them fitted asap.
There's no sort of strengthening plates needed, why do you think the majority of conversions don't use them?

its not a bodge job. you dont NEED to strengthen it.
If you want to then its not hard to use google and find the strengthening plates and weld them in.

Are you seriously suggesting that if you don't put strengthening plates in an XE coversion that it's a bodge? You've obviously not gethered a lot of 'info' yet if you still think that's the case.

I just meant it as a precaution, was talking to a mate who does alot of conversions on different cars (currently doing a rear engine saxo) and he said its just to be safe if your going to be running bigger bhp. I know it wont rip the car apart

What do the strut braces do then?
The strengthening kit doesn't go near the struts.

Wont they give the shell a bit of support?
Strengthening kits are welded into points in the engine bay, my guess is to stop it twisting

you dont have to strengthen the shell to run a c20xe but thats in the short term, i personaly would fit them as it tightens up the front end aka stops flexing in the front end and premiture falure of welds.
so in a nut shell its ot mandatory to do the chassis strengthening kit but your better off doing it to be better safe than sorry
