If a car has a marker on it, parks next to three other cars in a meet then the police will put markers on the other cars as they are involved with the person and possibly the crimes committed. Found this out a few months back. doubt it will happen with things like insurance and tax issues but will with drug and robbery issues. Just realised this is not really useful to you but owell

A lad i know did a runner from the police one night after a various drugs, drink cocktail, got chased, arrest etc.

Amazingly just just passed the limit (34. 8 or something stupid close), but now his car has a marker on it.

Often gets pulled to check see if he has been drinking

PNC action markers can be placed on cars for things such as obtaining driver/passenger details etc.

What's more likely is that intelligence is submitted on the vehicle which is then passed to officers if they conduct checks on the car / ANPR hit.

i.e if i stop a car, smell of cannabis in vehicle, i can submit intel on the vehicle and driver / occupants to say they were in a vehicle smelling of cannabis. If vehicle / persons checked in future officers will know previously there was a link to cannabis.

I got pulled not long ago because the police claimed to be able to smell cannabis coming from my car "10 feet away".

Never touched the stuff in my life, hope my car isn't maked for that

What does it matter if your car is marked? If you're doing nothing wrong and nothing to hide, there's no harm in a tug from the law now & then.

I find it kind of comforting to think that they sometimes use a pro-active approach to checking road users. I think we'd all be a little better off without un-insured drivers or those under the influence.

No, but its fucking irriating when they stop you for no reason (routine checks) at 720 in the morning when i start work at 730. Take 15mins doing checks chatting to me etc, then say all is fine here, on you way. Without giving me any stop report :@ was 15mins late for work and my boss didnt belive the cop story i told him

When I've been stopped like that in the past I've asked for proof if it was going to make me late for work etc or I've asked if I could ring work at the side of the road to explain to them, that way my boss can speak to the copper if he wants. So long as you're calm and polite with them and if you've done nothing wrong they generally co-operate with you. They're human afterall, I'm sure they understand that you may not have planned a 15 min stop into your commute.

The PNC gets updated daily with new possible suspects. Cars seen at meets, no insurance, tax etc. If an anpr system brings up a car found on the list then more than likely its worth a tug (for the reasons as gtitim said).

No offence to the majority, but a lot of people at cruises and meets will have un roadworthy cars (bald tyres etc) solely due to the age group driving them not being able to afford running costs. I know my old blue car had a marker on it as i was pulled religiously around once a month for routine checks.

i know for drink driving cars get marked

If someone is banned and owns a car its registered on the system

A girl at work - her dad got banned for drink driving

Took his car to the pub

Had a few and drove home

policed pulled the car to check why it was on the road

She ended up getting banned

nevermind markers i got pulled because a copper ran one of my old cars number plate and pulled me due to me having the surname of a family "well known" to them

thought i was one of the younger brothers of "said family" then sent me on my way

Good she deserved it if over limit.

All cars i drive aint in my name and i never register them in my name , i do believe they come up saying trade ? although everytime i have been stopped they dont say a thing. I got pulled in my impreza when i had it and they was "routine" stopping imprezas due to a soar in them been stolen, i really didnt mind and was happy for them to do the checks, although they did miss out a few things .

Because on my to work I don't want to be stopped by officers claiming I have been smoking something i've never touched in my life.
