Tignes is good. I'd say stay in Val D'Isere because it's nicer, has better food and better accommodation and get the Espace Killy lift pass so you can ride the Tignes area which is superior to the Val D one. There is a large park in the valley in between Val D and Tignes, then there is a smaller park in Tignes. When I say large and small I'm talking in terms of the size of the features. Both parks are big in physical size. The back country is good too with a lot of accessible runs which are pretty safe, just remember that it's quite likely that any back country riding will mean you'll be required by law to carry a transponder now. If you don't you'll have your pass taken off of you. (This has come into place in Italy I believe, but it's likely to come into play in France this or next season).
