Wired.

Laptop > XBOX transfer speeds (router about 2meters away in same room) is around 3MB/s, wired = 10.1MB/s.

You won't notice the difference unless you're transferring data over the network (i.e. to another device connected to the router).

I have an 8Mb line... I was getting bang on 8Mb with wired. Since I've gone wireless it seems to max out around 6.5Mb!

Depends...
Aren't homehubs wireless n?

If you're ethernet isn't 100/1000, then you may be better off using wireless.

Saying that I'd be extremely surpiused if you had a 10/100 ethernet and a wireless n client card...

Wired is normally faster and more stable. That's why I will only game over a wired connection as lag pisses me off

10/100, which wil lbe running at 100 unless you have some ancient equipment, will be faster than wireless n.

Just got wireless through 02. Luckily im within the access area, so im getting up to 20mb (Actually receiving 17mb) for 9.70 something a month, with the first three months free also .

It depends what you want the internet for tbh, if your doing huge downloads/gaming go for wired, or alternatively get a wireless router which allows wired connections too (best of both worlds).
