i just bought a 1.2 16v corsa b and theres a loud rattling comeing from the engine bay i have had the oil changed so i know its not that can any1 help me?

whats the milage on it?

and does it stop after you accelerate or if you rev is higher?

its dun bout 85000 miles it quietens down wen i accelerate.

do you know if the timing chain has been replaced? any reciepts or that confirming it?

or

have a look in the engine and can you see a dark colour thick tube that comes from your engine bay underneath your manifold? the Catalytic converter. you can also look underneath the front of your car and you will see it. its where the exhaust attaches to. is it loose when you shake it?

Edit. im not sure if the 1.2's are the same as the 1.0 in terms of the CAT positions. my experience hasnt quite adapted that far yet, lol.

Check the water pump by the pulley, mine was knackered.

the 1.2 16v cat is jus under the radiator on the down pipe from the manifold looks like a KFC bargain bucket

lol.

aye check the bracket that holds it on to the engine, mines has broken or the bolts came out and it rattles slightly when its reving low.
