Ive just bought a Dbilas inlet manifold of my mate. Spent all day fitting it along with doing my headgasket.
Right the problem is from 1,000-4,000 revs its flat as fuck, and i mean gutless, after that it goes Fukin nuts. Also 5 gear 100mph it wont pull anymore(not that im going that fast) Im only running standard management and its not got dbilas software. Is this going to improve when the ecu adjusts itself propperly. I can understand it being abit rough soon as its fitted, but not as flat as it is.
Any help and ideas please.
Dirty throttle body- Loads of oil, signs the bottom end is worn

Isnt it horrible seeing your car like this!!

Cams.

Head off for headgasket-Dbilas on in the process

Engine bay !! Just need to get it running right now

Cheers

It Went like Hell on my mates car though im not joking a 1.2 can out accelerate me until 4k and in 5th after 100 theres nothing.
No engine managements on so everythings connected, either thinking the ecu is badly confused or ive got some vaccy pipes mixed up.

are you sure all your vacum pipes are on and no splits in pipes..are any blocked pipes check all these??
i have a mantzel on my 1.4 16v and its MINT from about 4krpm goes like stink
You must have done something wrong because am running standard ecu? yours should only have ran lumpy when you first fit it for a while (seconds?!)
make sure everything is tight a simple air leak can make ecotecs run crap IMO!

cheers mate ile check all the vacuum pipes in the morning, we did do it all in the dark (tring to time up a cambelt in the dark is a twat!! lol
Might of got some rong, it was pretty strait forward though, having said that theres 5 that go into the end of the Dbilas, any of these mixed up could be the culprit.
Realy annoying me, just spent £300 on head and inlet and it goes slower and wont push over a ton

to be honest mate i wouldnt be doing them speeds if you have had new cambelt fitted (in the dark) you just want to hope everything is ok and you havnt got a bent valve etc? are hope your timing up correct
but like i say check:
- dbilas bolts are not leaking air.
- throttle body isnt leaking air.
- any pipes are not leaking air.
- blanking plates are tight? and not leaking. gaskets......
any other obv things that spring to mind?
+ am sure others will help you out, thats more clued up then me

Cheers dude Oh no, theres no bent valves, the timings spot on, it ticks over and purrs like a dream, just doesnt seem to go until after 4k.
Ile check them all but
new gasket on inlet,
Have to check throttle body and blanking plates.
Just looked on waren g's guide to fitting, not the same box but some of his vaccy pipes go are on different places, and one that i have connected to the inlet he has stuck a little breather on.
If i cant get it running right ile take it to MWperforemance, my local vaux specialists, see what they have to say.
Cheers for the advice though .

I was always told these engines didn't pull well til about 4k + but even then it wouldn't be as shite as you explained. The solution has already been mentioned in here its just finding exactly what's causing the problem.
My bet's on a vacuum pipe.

theres not pulling well and theres alot worse that it was standard. i got out accelerated at the lights by a 1.1saxo today until i got into second.
Timings fine, turned it over manually to make sure valves wer'nt knocking, did it 3 times and checked timing again, all fine.
Ive looked at the vacuum pipes and what i dont understand is that they all go out the inlet and they all blow, so it should be irrelivant whats connected to what.

if youve had the head off, make sure it isnt a tooth out on the timing.

my corsa sport with inlet power box pulls like a steam train and made the car 100% better
i have never had a EML on? ever... (touch wood!!) ( + bulb is in before anyone asks!)
+ my old corsa with the mantzel the EML light used to come on but go off with in seconds
