Something that I have always wanted to do as I always feel helpless when someone faints/falls over/chokes etc
anyone paid to do a course or had work pay for it?

Work paid for mine. We only do a 2 day course, then a refresher every 3 years

i dont do it anymore but i used to do it at work. there is so much paperwork these days and it's really not worth the hassle. a woman who still does it at work is being bollocked at the moment because she didn't put rubber gloves on before atttending to a person who had cut their head open.
fair play to you for wanting to do it for personal reasons though.

i did an adult first aid course and a child first aid course, both have run out now though

Trained first aider here - 5 day course including CPR, basic diagnosis, wound care etc etc. Ok, but generally I just call for an ambulance ( then keep the blood off my jacket ) but do initial treatment, generally stabilisation and stemming blood flow.

I've done the 4 days one. Didn't particularly want to do it, wouldn't be much cop in a situation and I also would never make myself accountable by being the designated first aider as i'd be useless.
