Corsa B 1.4 16v
What will help me with emissions?
my emissions test results are as followed...
Fast Idle Test
CO Level = 0.58% FAIL
HC Level = 103 ppm PASS
Lambda = 1.03 PASS
Second Fast Idle Test
CO Level = 0.72% FAIL
HC Level = 131 ppm PASS
Lambda = 1.04 FAIL
Natural Idle Test
CO Level = 0.50% PASS
I have a k&n panel filter, will changing this back to standard make a difference?
Will the optilex (or however u spell it)... the more expensive fuel help at all?
Any other tips?

take the airfilter completely off usually puts the emissions down a bit.
Take the car for a beasting before the MOT so the CAT is as hot as possible.
Higher octane fuel reduces emissions as well I think, like tesco 99 as it has 5% bi-ethanol in it which burns with less emissions.

Gave it an 'Italian Tune Up' - fucking ragged the tits off it, got to the MOT station and the emissions test was higher than the last time. He rekons there could be an air leak? Need some advice on how to find this air leak, where the most common areas to look are and if im meant to be listening for an air leak or?...
I have drilled my airbox but put my standard air filter back on it for the second test... shall i fit a standard air box?
Second test results
Fast Idle Test

HC Level = 99 ppm PASS
Lambda = 1.05 FAIL

CO Level = 1.01 FAIL
HC Level = 172 ppm PASS
Lambda = 1.03 PASS
Natural Idle Test
CO Level = 0.46% PASS
Is it worth replacing the Lambda aswell? Even though its passed on one of them will it make a difference to the other results?

new cat or better still fit 2 cats
 its a pain in the arse emisions. try pull the test rod just a touch out of the exhaust when he is not looking. = pass

Lambda is a 23 or 24mm spanner, if the cat is new sounds like it could be a likely candidate

It sounds like it is a little bit, i mean if i really listen... lol
It does sometimes smell of petrol on startup from cold and i get a bit of white smoke which i just assumed was condensation...

So... im going to replace the lambda
Check for air leaks (still not sure what technique i should use to do this)
Might aswell get some cat cleaner in there?
Anything else?

Mates got a fault code reader that he uses on his Astra, apparently it works on Corsas so i just need to find out where to plug it in... anyone know?

if it plugs into the diagnostic port then whip the fuse cover off and its tucked inside on the left 
check the vacume hoses on the engine mate, and you need to ahve a fully sealed exhaust as this will knock the emisions out, then also the lambda sensor will hopefully help it.

Cheers mate, one question... I think he said its an OBDII reader... i have an R Reg corsa... will this work?
I will check all the vacuum hoses, ive read somewhere to spray wd40 on all the connectors and listen out for irratic revs? can anyone confirm this will work on a corsa?

the obd deader will be ok on your car fella
and the idea of spraying wd 40 around the gaskets is a good one as this will make it miss if you find a leak.
