my astra gsi had its mot today and it failed on both rear springs missing a coil, had some spare so went home and changed them which equaled a pass yay! hehe
but point im trying to make is people say cutting springs is dodgy which it is if they can fall out, but they also say it will make ur car handle rubbish, well ive driven about for god nows how long with two broken rear springs and not noticed a thing lol
dont get me wrong i would never or have not ever used cut springs but does make me laugh what people say and like me if it happened without you knowing providing it only was missing a coil you would never know..... and i though my astra felt the same on the way home from mot station as it was goin back with ok springs on lol

right okay then. :/
you didn't notice you're car sitting incredibly low?
I had two cut springs on my starlet, and it was very bouncy, and understeered alot more.

A hell of a lot of mark 4's seem to have this problem! My SXI lost coils on both rear springs and this was only noted at a service when the pig tail dropped out!

A lot of cars drive round with broken springs and the owner doesn't even notice, we get them in all the time and they only get noticed on MOT's or Services, maybe a good 3 or 4 cars per week with atleast 1 broken spring.

I'd say it's more lack of feel for the car/mechanical knowledge than cut springs being ok.
