Laptop has external VGA and S Video 6 pin (I think, definately not 4 pin IIRC) connectors.
TV has SCART connections, RCA connections, but no S Video or VGA for some reason
How can I connect the laptop to the TV? It will be used as a media centre of sorts - recording stuff off Freeview via a USB TV stick, and to play back said material so won't be used for normal PC stuff just video basically.
I've seen all sorts of weird and wonderful cables and adapters, not sure which one I need! Laptop also has standard 3.5mm headphones jack.

get a Scart converter like this (+ a s-video cable, usually male to male) -

Then just use a 3.5mm jack to phono cable for the audio
edit - can get the converters off ebay for a few quid.

The TV has two scart sockets, one of which says "S-Video" underneath it so I'm guessing I could use the adapter Dom posted?
