Right, back in Feb 2009 i left my job legitimately. A few weeks later i got a letter from my employer claiming that i owed him £439 for work that he paid me that i hadn't done.
I never paid him any money because i didnt owe him any. But this morning i got a letter from the claim court saying that i owed my previous employer £439 and £45 court costs. The is no evidence that i have or havent done the work that he paid me for.
On all my other payslips my employer has changed the final amount etc due to illness/absence etc. I never got paid a penny for any work that i hadnt done. in fact it was sometimes a hassle trying to get him to pay me on the correct time!
Just looking for some advice as what to do etc? do you guys think this is right or is he just trying his luck? because imho it seems he is pissing into the wind.

You'll need to speak to a solicitor if you don't want to pay the money back.
Probably best to get it all sorted sooner rather than later because it wont go away.
