One question tho. How come the handbrake light comes on, because the handbrake is on the back brakes right. And isn't it cable driven ?

Baffled me too
Something to do with the sensor being somewhere.
Even if the fluid looked full i put a little bit in.

your pads may be low but will still stop you untill completely worn out, your pedal may travel a cm or so more, thats all.
The light has two uses,
1 when the handbrake is on
2. when the fluid gets low
....thus being two sensors, one in the handbrake and one in the fluid resevoir.
It will be only when cornering right as the sensor in the resevoir will be on the right.
Hope this makes sense.

I checked the level and seemed OK, but I put a bit more in and it's stopped it.

thats fine but i wouldn't just ignore it as the level went down for a reason. If it is a brake issue, i would have them looked at as you need these to work.
