I'm after some sensible advice as i'm not sure where to even start. Let me give you the idea -
Coming up to 6 years ago I had a fairly bad accident (arm, shoulder and back - torn muscles, broken bones etc) whilst playing rugby in school, ended up in hospital for a week and was allowed to go home because it was christmas etc and my parents would be able to look after me.
Roll on a few years and I had been going to weekly physio, regular check ups and visits to pain clinics and pretty much living on one pill or another to keep it from hurting.
This July just passed I slipped a disk due solely to the original accident. I get pains and numbness aswell as lack of blood flow meaning rush trips to the hospital or a&e.
Now I'm getting fed up, the full results of the accident weren't truely diagnosed for 3 years (Hairline fracture on Vertabrae #7).
Its also stopped me following the career path that I wanted and made some things in life really quite difficult.
Now, what do I do, because I can't afford to keep having days off due to it, and i'm always feeling angry towards the original person that did it. Reality is its the hospital that didnt correctly diagnose it, follow it up seriously and because of that possibly made it worse.
So, what would you do ?

my dads mate had a broken back for 17months before diagnois he is now on disability allowance which keeps him going (he does get a nice chunk towards a car which i disagree with but heyho) i would be looking for some legal adviced towards the hopspital and possibly the place where you hurt your back (if no consent form was signed tetc may have a case) the hosiptal is difficult though as it can be hard to diagnose etc so not really sure but get some free advice first, only people who can truely help

Thats my thought, as it was a hairline fracture, it could have been easy to miss.
Also it happened during a school house matches (in school competition), so would have thought they'd have a lot of insurance against this kinda thing.
My main arguement is that it is affecting me still today, and how i see it for the foreseable future. Will give CAB a call at lunch and arrange an appointment.

Jesus, it must have been some tackle to do that much damage, how the hell did the lad manage to do that? Jump on your back feet first?

It was an injury gained playing a contact sport.
Although not very nice, unless you think the hospital/whoever dealt with it were negligent, that's life.

Hospitals are strange places......
I went into A&E as my asthma had got bad very quickly, the nurse just thought i had a bad cough and wanted to send me home. I ended up spending half hour on a nebuliser after a brief agrument.
My mate Mark fractured his leg, was told it was just badly bruised, later turned out to be quite bad. Hes been going to physio for 2 years now.
Another chap who i play football with broke his ankle......went to A&E, told it was a very bad sprain. They finally admitted it was broken on the 5th visit.
I had a serious problem with my eye, got sent to MK A&E. Was seen by an 'eye specialist' who told me it was just conjuctivitus. Went to my optician the next day, was sent straight to hospital (BUPA this time) as it turned out he missed quite an obivous and serious malfunction wihth my eye which they found within 2 minutes of looking. Now short sighted in that eye.
Though in your case (fracture-wise), i have heard that hospitals can mistake a fracture as a 'shadow' on the bone and they do sometimes ignore it (got that from a guy who used to work in Luton and Dunstable X-ray dept). But i would deffo speak to CAB first?

Lostboy - I landed on my neck, then everyone else landed on me.
John, aware of that, just wondered if there was anything i could do ? I feel the original hospital was negligent that they let me leave so soon after the accident, that the original xray showed the damage and I have had to chase them for appointments etc.
