This is something i read about, but only can find "yes" and "no" answers and no explanations...

My car came with steel wheels and nuts...
Now i want to put alloy wheels on the car, can i use original nuts or i must get alloy ones?

i used steel nuts on alloys before, for about 9k miles which isnt alot, so want to really find out the aswser to this,

Thanks

yes I think so, they need to match. Take them to a tyre place that sells alloys and they'll be able to sort you out. Shouldn't be any more than 20 quid for a new set of bolts.

i thought alloy wheel nuts were longer than steely wheel nuts thats the reason our wheel fell of the caravan as the nuts wasnt long enough and it only traveled 100yards before this happened
