I've never really wanted it before but there have been some absolutely terrible referee decisions recently that turned games so I've started to change my view on it. Its not just in our games (Man United) that there have been bad decisions, things like tonight Ngog diving to get a penalty for Liverpool. That would of been picked up no problem.

Thoughts?

Think it should be bought in for some things, goalline technology shouldn't be THAT hard to implement really.

But decisions going wrong give us something to talk about, yes it's annoying but the bigger teams generally get the rub of the green on decisions over the space of a season.

If you do it for penalty decisions, you'll get people complaing about Free kicks, if you do it for that, people complaining about Corners, and so on. It'd slow everything down too much.

Imo, of course

Thats why I haven't been up for it before. It almost makes the game too perfect and is bound to slow the game up.

Very annoying when a wrong decision means some one is sent off or a penalty awarded which means a team that was going to lose can then get something out of the game because of a ref's bad decision. Or vice versa in denying a team a chance

The thing is with technology in Football is the fact that 8/10 the game wouldn't come to a natural stopage, so where would you stop the game to have a look?

In cricket & rugby, there is a natural stopage in the game when the video ref gets involved. In football you wont always have that so some things wouldn't work.

Goal line I agree with though, but only if it was like ice hockey with some sort of buzzer, because again you wouldn't have a natural stopage if the ball came back into play.

I personally think it should just stay as it it. Its been like this for 100 of years, and if it hadn't have been for stadiums now having 20,000 TV cameras inside them nobody would give half these things a second thought.

Exactly, i agree with every point there Danny.

Goal line sensors maybe, but what level do you stop it at?

Just keep the refs and everything as it is, it gives you something to argue about at the pub later on.

That kind of behaviour on Drogba is fine IMO.

Goal line technology has been developed and works its just FIFA don't want to use it and wanted to give Adidas a go at getting thier chip-in-ball technology working.

Hawkeye tested it and had it virtually all done and dusted but the FA were told that they would not be allowed to use it as FIFA would not allow it. Funny enough Adidas have quite good ties with lots of the FIFA bigwigs.

As for video replay. I think for a very limit set it could be used i.e. penalty decisions - there is always a stop in play. You look how long it is between a tackle and the penatly being taken, its always almost a minute+

it should be used for in box decisions only imo

And it should be able to go back to the previous stop in play, goal kick, or corner, etc, and the ref should be able to pull it back once the ball goes out of play

And anyway - as for pausing the game, in the box for a penalty, it should be paused anyway, as in most cases it's either a dive or a penalty, vast majority of those tackles that get the ball imo go out of play

So, what happens if someone gets brought down the box, but the referee isn't sure if it is a penalty or not and the ball rolls to the keeper. Ref notes he wasn't sure so will look at the incident next time the ball goes out of play. The keeper then kicks the ball down field, and it falls the one of his team mates who scores.

Ball is now out of play.

What do you do, look at the replay and decide if it was a penalty or not, and if you decide that it was a penalty what do you do about the goal that has just been scored? Do you disalow it as technically if the penalty would have been given in the first place the goal would have never been scored.......

There are far too many things like that which could happen, and thats why it would never work in football.

You've only got to look at thread about N'Gog last night on here. Its 8 pages long with various people putting opinions forward and we've still not managed to decide wether or not it was a penalty, so how would 1 person be able to do it and get it right 100% of the time? You'd still get just as many mistakes as you do now IMO.
