I saw a home beer brewing kit a few days ago and it's got me wanting to have a go.
Has anyone on here ever tried it, and what were the results like?
I understand it will probably work out a lot more expensive that popping down the local pub but I still want to give it a go.
How long does it normally take to make a batch up? Am I still in time to have some ready for Christmas?

They sell them in Wilko, there's quite a few bits of equipment you need to buy after you've bought the mix. Most of them make 40 pints.
That's all I know though.

I've done it once. The stuff I made was deadly! Very alcoholic and very fizzy

You basically need a large bucket to brew it in, then a pressure barrel to finish it off. Or you can do individual bottles. If you do bottles then you're less likely to get a load of yeast in it because you'll have syphoned it off twice. I think that's how it goes, it was years since I last did it
Don't put too much sugar in it, I think that's why mine was so deadly!

My mate done it not long ago with the Wilkos kit, was quite strong and he done it in individual 2litre bottles, he said it was lovely for what it was but I dont like beer so it just tasted like same old shit to me.
