Fancy upgrading.
Would a standard q9650 be much improvement over my q8200 (clocked to 2.9ghz)
Mems already maxxed out on this board and i dont fancy forking out for a new board/ddr3 or i5/7 just yet.
Also i was going to be switching to xfired 4890's instead of my gtx280 which has gotten old and noisy.
are the 4890's anygood?. or would i be better getting a 5*** series?.
Would my tagan 880w be man enough to run two gfx cards too?
regards

Unless you can get the Q9650 cheap it won't be worth the expense what's making you wonder if the CPU is the bottleneck? Should be doing fine where it is at the moment.....
I would say depending on cash... go for a single 5870 or two 4890's. Don't forget the Nvidia Fermi cards are coming out next quarter

Hmmm to be honest mate I've got a Q6600 at stock with a pair of 4870's and it handles Crysis really nicely.

nicely? whats fps are you getting? and what resolution?.. i tend to game in 1080, but crysis struggles like hell.
Anywho, ive bit the bullet and got a pair of xfx 4870's and a 9650 on the way.
if my psu struggles ill just run a single card till i upgrade.
Any idea what a reasonable resale price for my 8200 and 280 should fetch??
