imagine its either the rear axle bearings that are knackered or the torsion bars have been fucked after someone has lowered the car using the "click" method

id put money on it.Best way to check is either sit on the boot and rag the car up and down and listen for any creaking(handbrake off) or jack the backend up and check for any side to side play.Even the slightest and its the bearings on the trailing arms that have gone.Problem is that its about £300 to get them refurbed and if you get another 2nd hand axle then you run the risk of the same happening again.

also get the splines on the torsion bars checked as if its been lowered using the click method then the splines on them could be stuffed. If so then its a hell of a lot cheaper than the arm bearings. Also check the offset washers and bolts are tight as on the ends of the torsion bars to.If they aint then it can allow the bars to slip round under load
