My Astra is due a service, its got full Vauxhall service history so would like to keep it up.
Thing is when I purchased the car I got a few spare bits with it, including GM Oil filter, Spark Plugs and Fuel Filter.
I also have a Panel Filter on the way and can pick up some GM 10w40 Oil cheaper than the dealer would sell it for, also was going to order some Iridium Spark Plugs aswell.
Just wanted to know if I can give Vauxhall the parts and they can just charge me for the labour, or would they not accept the parts I provide?
Thanks

No reason why they wouldn't accept the parts IMO.
I take it the car is out of warranty, so they can't kick up a fuss about the Iridiums or Panel Filter.

If u have the parts just do it ure self, and document it well. Main dealer history doesnt influence me to buy a car at all, so long as theres proof of servcing etc

Yea the car is out of warrenty, the Oil filter, fuel filter and plugs I have are all GM and new so seems a waste not using what I already have.
Ordered a Courtenay Sport panel filter so i would have thought that would be fine, its the Iridiums I was more worried about, just incase they didn't want to fit them.

Thats the thing, I can service the car myself easily, done it plenty of times.
Im planning to keep the car a few years, so its only going to decrease in value anyway, only reason I wanted to go to the main dealer was to keep the service history up really.

In all honesty, While you have the bits, do it yourself. Would save you the money and hastle of taking it down to the dealers and better knowing that it has been done. As for the service history just write in the book the mileage, when and what was done. Keep a couple of receipts to back it up aswell.

I really wouldnt bother, unless its a really new car, especially for oil changes etc.
I have a 56 plate pug 207 gt, and all im planning on doing is 1 service a year at maindealer, which is 55 quid for a level check basically, then do the oil changes etc myself.

most dealers will let you supply your own parts and charge you for the labour if thats what you want to do. be better doing it yourself though mate, save some money and you will know its been done right. just write in the service book its been done

its so much better grabbing a haynes manual and doing all serviceable items yourself, you get to know your own car so much better and it helps for other cars as well
